Signature Scent by Big Zap

Rapping over a charming piano beat we have Florida’s very own Big Zap. Back on his releases, he put out a new single, ‘Signature Scent’, where he boasts charisma and confidence over catchy and clean production. One stand-out element in Zap’s new song is his smooth vocals. He nails the confidence that modern rappers need to execute the witty bars and the personality. While mentioning the positives, the mixing is also well done. The vocals could be a tiny bit louder for me but honestly, it’s clean and matches most major label releases. A lot of the bars here are quite quotable and feature some quality pen game. I can’t even begin quoting lines that made me laugh out loud and the Kid Cudi Camp Flog Gnaw reference!

Tampa Based Rapper ‘Big Zap’

I do really enjoy this track and it aligns with a lot of that boastful witty rap out right now, but I do wish there was a bit more here. As much as I do enjoy the vocals, they could have a bit more texture and variety, in terms of the pitches. The rhyme schemes are absolutely insane though, a lot of time was put into making the words fit together like a quilt. Also, for the length, I would’ve liked to see a bridge or some type of progressive change in the beat maybe around 2:30 before that concluding chorus. Overall though I think you should check this one out, see what Zap has to offer and if you like artists such as Amine I think it’ll be right up your alley.
